Magnesium Lowers Blood Pressure镁降血压


A meta-analysis indicated that magnesium (Mg) supplementation may lower blood pressure (BP) in normotensive or hypertensive adults. The study included 34 randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trials involving 2028 participants. Mg supplementation at a median dose of 368 mg/d for a median duration of 3 months significantly reduced systolic BP by 2.00 mm Hg and diastolic BP by 1.78 mm Hg; these reductions were accompanied by 0.05 mmol/L elevation of serum Mg compared with placebo. Serum Mg was negatively associated with diastolic BP but not systolic BP. Mg-rich foods, such as fish, shrimp, eggs, chicken, nuts, and leafy greens, should be encouraged in hypertensive patients.
